Tim Brown was born in 1969 in Hurworth, Darlington, County Durham. His father Philip was Chairman for James Grahams Timber in Hartlepool, his mother Judy was an Antiques Dealer for over 25 years. He was educated at Sedbergh School and then went onto Harrogate College of Art and then to Loughbrough College of Art where he gained his BA. Hons Degree in Sculpture Fine Art in 1992.
His first place of work was for Sotheby’s of London in the Conservation Department. His training and skill soon found him repairing priceless pieces of sculpture. However the pull of the North eventually took over and Tim returned to work as a trainee Marketing Manager, a new field but well suited to his keen eye for design. After five years Tim set up his own design business, which he ran for six years. During this time he married Anna Calvert in 1997 and they now have two children Archie 7 and Pippa 5 plus 2 dogs.
By now his love of painting had really taken a hold and he mounted his own exhibition, which was a sell out. He then approached The Biscuit Factory, Europe’s largest commercial art gallery where his work was very well received. Meanwhile in 2003 Tim was offered a job with Elgin and Hall as Marketing Manager. Unfortunately after 3 years the company he was working for went into liquidation. The big decision had to be made and Tim decided to make his way as a professional artist, his true calling.
Tim lives with his family in beautiful Swaledale, adjacent to Anna’s parents farm. Living in such an idyllic setting of rolling hills and woodland gives Tim his inspiration.
